New study analyzes early antibody binding to decellularized homografts

Semi-quantitative analysis by a newly developed Dot-Blot showed early binding of preformed antibody binding in 20 consecutive patients, which were followed after pulmonary and aortic valve replacement with cell-free homografts. Serial assessment revealed an increase in some patients within 4 weeks after surgery, who subsequently developed early signs of allograft degeneration. Further studies are needed to confirm the prognostic relevance of such findings in addition to targeted research efforts to identify the molecular agents triggering this type of antibody response.   The whole article can be found OPEN ACCESS here:   https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fcvm.2022.895943/full
